Where are the Groups of Wirksworth?

Taking all the many and varied groups in the town, I would have thought it was a very useful vehicle for promoting their activities.

There has been a smattering of information from the Carnival and the Festival but what about the other groups such as...the Heritage Centre, Civic Society, the Twinning Association, the Churches, the Sport & Leisure Centre, individual sports groups, Music Centre, Choirs, etc.etc. Just imagine what a dynamic list it would be!

Why don't we hear from them?:confused:

Good to hear from Fairtrade Group today. Let's hear something from these groups too! Amnesty International; Music Centre; Heritage Centre; Community Orchestra, Wirksworth Guides, Care Centre, Churches Together, Phoenix Choir; Wirksworth Festival; Rotary Club; Stoney Wood, Twinnining Association; Civic Society; INDepenDANCE; Adult Community Education Centre; Steeple Grange Light Railway; Sport & Leisure Centre; Health Centre. Perhaps we should all meet up one day and celebrate a wonderful town!

I heard yesterday that there is another group who are looking at Roman remains in Wirksworth. They have kept very quiet about, but I'm curious to know more about them and what they have discovered so far...if anything! Does anyone know?

They are no more! Wirksworth Guides have merged with and become known as Cromford Guides.

Another sad loss to our town. The Rainbows have gone the same way and there are no Cubs/Scouts any closer than Holloway.

So Wirksworth guides have merged with Cromford maybe if they advertised for more girls to join in every school and did a posters etc they might get some more girls to join ?

Can anyone please enlighten me to the roles Wirksworth Civic Society and NOW play and how do both groups differ because to me they appear to have the same objectives.
