Film for April
I confess,
Alfred Hitchcock’s lesser-known suspense thriller.
Father Michael Logan (Montgomery Clift) is a devout Catholic priest in a church in Quebec City. To take care of the church, Logan employs a caretaker, Otto Keller and his wife as a housekeeper. They are German immigrants with very little money, although in their homeland they were more affluent.
Very late one evening Keller asks if Father Logan will hear his confession. In the confessional (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confessional), Keller confesses that he went to try to steal money from a person he gardens for, a rich lawyer called Villette, and in the process he killed him.
Because of the binding nature of the secrecy of the confessional, Father Logan cannot tell the police inspector (Karl Marlden) anything he now knows about this crime. Co-starring Anne Baxter.

Screened on Friday, 4 April in the Town Hall at 7.30 pm. Bar opens at 7.0 pm. Non-members £4 each.

Last night's Hitchock film, "I Confess" was well worth going to see. With so many new faces, the hall was packed. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

The last of the season will be in May with a film called The Chorus. More details soon on wirksworth.net.
