In case anybody's interested, we have a gallery which documents the work at Duffield station here: http://wyvernrail-plc.fotopic.net/c1778909.html

No captions just yet, but you can probably work-out what's going-on, while please free to ask any questions.

Kind regards,

Neil

169 pictures of the same bit of railway - I can't cope with all these!

You need to cut out all the duplicates and bring the number down to 20 at the most if you want ordinary people like me to look at them. Otherwise it's a big bore, Neil!

Ooooh you made me look inwards! Fair point, well made: that's the problem with obsession. A winnowing-out will take place...

I was just wafting though Duffield in the dining car of the 'Matlock Express' yesterday and noticed a train in the Wirksworth branch at the station.

There are good number of us very keen to take our early morning croissants on the Wirksworth to Duffield train. Never mind the photos Neil- have you got a coffee machine installed yet?

Well, things might be moving that way... First of all, you will see trains in our platform because we have now nearly finished renewing the track at Duffield and it has been a massive change which we have completed in just a couple of months. As we speak, they've started dropping ballast there and that really does signify the final lap.

Meanhile, you will see a small brick-built building in the vee of the two platforms. It used to house the electronic gubbins for when the mobile phone towers used to be there but our plan is to turn it into our station building. When that happens, we hope that 'The Trainspotter' booking office and tearoom will not be far behind.

Watch this space!

I have uploaded just four pictures taken on Saturday when we ran single coach unit 'Iris' down to Duffield. They really show the extend of the work done. You will see that the track needs ballasting and there is a whole load of other stuff to do but it looks dramatically different to how it was thjis time last year.

The images can be seen here: http://wyvernrail-plc.fotopic.net/c1778909.html while if you want to see just one image of how things did look, see here: http://wyvernrail-plc.fotopic.net/p49679311.html - this was taken in 2001 and it's hard to tell that it is the same location!
