View Full Version : Vicky Cristina Barcelona
This is Woody Allen's latest film, chosen for February's film night. With a great cast of stars including Penelope Cruz, Rebecca Hall and Scarlett Johanssen it promises to be a good evening's viewing.
Screened as usual at 7.30 - with bar opening at 7.0, in Wirksworth Town Hall.
Message for Alastair - I hope you approve of this one!!:)
Whoops! I forgot to add the date. It is Friday 12 February.
Can anyone please add a picture...I'm hopeless at doing this.

Well Stella - I am flattered that you are at all interested in my approval.
I feel very positive about Barcelona so I am sure this will be a whole lot more to my taste than Darjeeling Limited.
Let's see

Quite so, Vicky Cristina Barcelona promises to be a delightful feast for our eyes. Two buxom young lasses having a jaunty, naughty summer. Titillating stuff!
Rest assured in the knowledge that I also deign to approve proceedings. Do carry on (with your lives).

I also deign to approve proceedings....
In other words you will be coming to see the film on Friday and will let us all know what you think of it! I'm curious...do we know you?

Who is this "we", Erica? Are you referring to you and yourself? Are you asking me whether I know you collectively?
Or are you in fact speaking on behalf of a wider group? One so established it needn't be specified. You and the other Wirksworth net regulars perhaps?
Am I like a stranger who has walked into your pub without wiping his mud-caked walking boots, proceeded straight to the bar and, overhearing a couple of locals holding forth on this and that, offered his own independent view on the subject? But such views aren't welcome here. It's club members only. The locals frown, turn to consider this impudent stranger. Excuse me, one of them ventures, with the condescension that is the privilege of the insider contemplating the outsider, Do we know you?
Is it like that? Or do you personally want to know if you know me? If the latter, I doubt it. I am after all Matlock resident. Of course you may have seen me loitering around Sainsbury's, my spiritual home. I have a great shock of black hair and on wild nights I roar around with trolleys like I am running with bulls. On such bitter nights Sainsbury's projects its orange beacon into the dank Matlock air and I go to it for succour. And sausages. I long for an orange uniform. Orange is my favourite colour. I even have orange eyebrows. Yet there are other colours in which I indulge in. If you really want to find me come down Sainsbury's upon the first signs of spring. I shall be there at the fish counter, doing my salmon dance, devouring silver cod, consuming yellow sole, relishing red herrings.

I have obviously touched a sore nerve. My apologies.
When I refer to 'we' it is because I am one of the few 'regulars' on this forum. I have never met them, but as the messages between us have been going on for so long I feel as if I know them. Silly, I know. But at least it explains the 'we'.
Having a Matlock resident entering into the spirit of the forum is fun and personally I am very pleased that you have joined in.
Can we now get back to Wirksworth Film topics? I thoroughly enjoyed Vicky Cristina Barcelona. There was some very amusing Woody Allen type dialogue and the guy was very dishy. I can understand why the women were falling for him.
Next month's film clashes with the Community Quiz....sad!
