Wirksworth's Carnival Queen is once again Helen -Jean. She had announced her abdication this year but when the new Queen Nicola Bearstall was unable to take up her post, Helen Jean was appointed Queen for one more year.

The wells were made by, Anthony Gell School, Christian Aid, Flock Shop and Wirksworth Rainbows and Guides, The Methodist Church, Wirksworth rotary Club, 'The Group', Wirksworth C of E School, Wirksworth Infant School, Wirksworth Junior School and Wirksworth Play Group.
