This friendly and popular race is an annual event organised by the Wirksworth Well-Dressing Association. All profits go to local charities. It attracts 100-150 competitors young and old and has been won by International standard athletes in the past.

The route climbs out of the town to the National Stone Centre where it joins a disused railway line known now as the High Peak Trail, popular with walkers and mountain bikers nationally.

The Trail climbs steeply up the Middleton Incline to go past the historically important engine house at the Top. The youngsters turn round at this point and retrace their steps back down.

The seniors turn off the Trail onto well marked Moorland and continue to climb then contour round farmland, back onto the Trail. The race is then enters a fast flat section before a furious descent of the Incline and descent to the start.

Middleton Top Engine House (nearly) the highest point of the race.

Marshalls and markers are placed at all junctions and prior knowledge of the course is not strictly required. First Aid stations are situated on Middleton Top and at the start / finish area.
