Wirksworth Toy Library

Welcome to Wirksworth Toy Library's page! We hope you and your children will enjoy hours of fun using our resources.

Wirksworth Toy Library has been providing a toy lending service for local children for over twenty years. It is staffed and managed by volunteers, themselves with pre-school children.

If you have comments or suggestions, or are able to offer a couple of hours every few months to help on Toy Library Rota or with fundraising events, please contact Hanna Link (tel: 01629 826851). Your involvement will be appreciated.

What sort of toys are there?

…dressing up kits, baby toys, musical instruments, pull-along toys, balancing stilts, catch mitts, jigsaws, word games, duplo sets, music CDs, ride-on toys, LeapPad, videos, dolls house, garage, pop-up toys, train sets, car mats, baby gym, … come and see our catalogues!

So how does it work?

  • Toy Library operates like a book lending library – there’s a large selection of toys and games for children from birth to five years old, which aim to stimulate and to encourage learning. These toys can be borrowed from Toy Library to enjoy at home on a bi-monthly basis.

  • Wirksworth Toy Library meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month between 1.30pm and 3pm in the Health Education Room, upstairs at the Hannage Brook Medical Centre. You can either just pop in to change your toys, or stay a while and meet other parents and carers whilst your children play.

  • There’s no charge for borrowing the toys. To cover our insurance costs, there is an annual membership fee of £6 for a first child and £3 for each extra sibling. Membership runs for the year from September.

  • You can borrow up to two toys plus one board game or jigsaw/CD/Video for each child from a Toy Library session. The toys are due back at the next session.

We look forward to seeing you!
