Wirksworth has a rich history which runs from prehistoric times, through the Rman occupation, Saxon and Viking invasions. It also takes in the expansion of lead mining and quarrying and the important regeneration programme of the 1970s in the Wirksworth Project.
HOME FRONT 1945 - Wirksworth 60 - 60
The Home Front 1945 project is being run by Wirksworth Heritage Centre with the challenge in 2005 to collect 60 memories from Wirksworth people of 60 years ago as the second world war came to an end.
