The streets of Wirksworth will be coming alive over the Spring Bank Holiday Weekend (27th, 28th, 29th May) with the Carnival and Well Dressing celebrations. We have a jam-packed events list this year, and will be adding more attractions to the timetable right up until the last minute. 

There will be over ten Well Dressings illuminated for the first time this year. Street Market, Craft Fair, Antiques Valuation, Flea Market, Fairground, 60ft Big Top, Face Painting, Mask and Costume Making, Circus Workshops, Walkabout Clowns, Stilt Walkers, While-you-wait Cartoon Portraits, Wheelbarrow Race, Road Race, Vintage Cars, Wyvern Rail Open Day, Sheffield Muzzle Loaders, Have-a-go Clay Pigeon Shoot, Falconry Display, Birds of Prey, Chainsaw Sculptor – Andrew Frost, African Drummers, Steel Band, Belly Dancers, Marching Bands. Live music throughout the town every night, Street entertainers and Busking Competition.

So if you think you’ve seen what Wirksworth has to offer - think again!

Why not take advantage of our new Park and Ride service, incorporating Wyvern Rail’s newly opened train line, starting from the National Stone Centre and Wyvern Industrial Estate (see signposts).
