You can do general office stuff, advanced grapics and photo processing, website development, email and web browsing, use your computer like a phone and even do some interesting science all without paying a penny to get legal, state of the art software.

Some of the stuff here is pure freeware, you just can't buy the software, though of course you may be able to buy a CD with it on and if you want to contribute most of these projects will be happy to accept whatever donation you want to make, it's how they keep going.

Other stuff if cut down versions of commercial software, which you may well find does everthing in the full version you need!

Either way all the software here is first rate and free.
